How can I share my cycle with a partner safely?

Share only what you choose, use end-to-end encryption, and keep the ability to pause or stop at any time. In Splash, a QR code carries a key only you and your partner hold; you tick the categories, preview what they will see, and can pause, stop or set an expiry. Clue keeps sharing your own cycle in Clue Plus; basic Flo for Partners is free.

What should I ask before sharing my cycle?

  • Is it my choice? Sharing should always be voluntary. Nobody should pressure you to share, or to keep it on.
  • What exactly will they see? Phases only, or moods, symptoms and notes too? Can you preview it?
  • Who holds the key? If the company can read the shared data, it can lose or be compelled to hand it over.
  • Can I pause or stop quietly? You should be able to end or freeze a share without a conversation.
  • Does it cost? Some apps charge you to share your own cycle.

How does Splash partner sharing work?

  1. Make an account. Sharing needs an account because the locked snapshot is stored on our server. Your partner needs none.
  2. Pick what to share. In Settings, open Partner sharing and tick the categories: cycle and period, fertile days, mood, symptoms, that love was logged, notes, pregnancy week or today’s vibe. Preview what your partner will see.
  3. Show the QR code. Tap Invite partner. The code carries a key that exists only in the code and in your app.
  4. Your partner scans it. They open Splash, choose “I’m a partner” and scan. Their phone unlocks a read-only snapshot. Our server holds only the locked copy.
  5. Change your mind any time. Stop sharing and their app says it has ended. Pause it and they keep seeing your last update, frozen. Or set the share to expire on a date you choose.

What if sharing does not feel safe?

If a partner is checking your phone, controlling what you share or you feel unsafe, you do not have to share, and Splash can help you keep your cycle private. Use a PIN or Face ID lock, a decoy PIN that opens an empty app, discreet mode and the panic wipe. The safety page has a quick-exit button and support lines. In the UK, the National Domestic Abuse Helpline run by Refuge is free on 0808 2000 247; call 999 in an emergency.

Questions people ask

Can my partner see my period without me knowing?

Not through Splash sharing. A share only starts when you show your partner a QR code, and it shows only the categories you ticked. You can pause or stop it at any time. If someone has access to your unlocked phone, that is a different risk: use the PIN, decoy PIN and discreet mode.

Does my partner need to download anything?

They need Splash, which opens in a browser with no sign-up, or the app. They choose “I’m a partner”, scan your code, and see a read-only view. They do not need an account, and their phone never gets your PIN, photos or anything you left off.

Is sharing my cycle with a partner private?

In Splash, the shared snapshot is encrypted on your phone with a key that exists only in the QR code and your app. Our server stores a locked copy and cannot read it. With an account, the server can still see which categories a share includes, but not the data.

What does a partner see in Splash?

Only what you tick: your cycle and period, fertile days, mood, symptoms, that love was logged, notes, pregnancy week and today’s vibe. They can reply “On it” to a vibe, and replies are deleted after three days. They never see your PIN or photos, and you can preview their view first.
