Delete your Splash account

You can delete your account and all of its cloud data yourself, in the app, at any time. It takes under a minute.

Last updated

You only have a Splash account if you turned on backup and sync. Without an account, nothing is stored with us, and everything is on your phone (see erase the data on your phone).

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open Splash and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Account & sync.
  3. Tap Delete account, then Continue.
  4. Type delete to confirm. To wipe this phone as well, tick Also erase everything on this phone.
  5. Tap Delete account and backup.

You can do this from any device that is signed in to your account. That includes accounts made with a username and no email: sign in on any of your devices and follow the same steps.

What gets deleted, and when

When you confirm, these are removed from our database straight away:

  • your account and sign-in details (email or username)
  • your encrypted backup
  • your partner shares: sharing stops and the shared snapshot is deleted
  • your push notification subscriptions
  • any queued notifications that haven’t been sent yet

Our hosting providers keep short-lived backups and request logs for resilience and security. Deleted data drops out of those on their normal cycle and is not restored. Your backup was encrypted on your phone with a key we never held, so even those copies can’t be read by us. If you email us, we keep that correspondence as described in the privacy policy.

What stays on your phone, and how to erase it

Deleting your account does not touch the data on your phone unless you tick Also erase everything on this phone. To erase it at any time, with or without an account:

  • In Splash, go to Settings → Your data → Delete all data. This erases your logs, profile, photos, PIN and settings on that phone and signs it out.
  • Or remove the app from your home screen and clear the site’s data in your browser settings.

Do this on each phone or device where you used Splash.

Lost access to your account?

If you can’t sign in any more, email hello@splash.care from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We’ll delete your account and its cloud data within 30 days and confirm when it’s done. We may ask you to confirm the request comes from you. Username-only accounts have no email for us to check against, so if you’ve lost access to one, tell us the username and anything that helps us confirm it’s yours.
